Milton & Fulston Utd - Under 10's

Milton & Fulston Utd Vs. Woodpecker HI (25-03-12)

Game 1 - Milton & Fulston Utd 0 – 0 Woodpecker HI

For the third week in a row, Milton & Fulston United produced a fine display, played some great possession football, but somehow, didn't get the rewards for it. Every player in a blue and black shirt had chances to score, Liam Parker coming closest with an effort that hit the post. Thomas Upton came close with a free kick, and Reece Bishop's long range effort went just wide. Not to say Woodpecker were totally over-run, they had their own chances, but found Zebras keeper Charlie Whent was equal to everything that came his way. Woodpecker will be happier with the point than the home team.

Game 2 - Milton & Fulston Utd 1 – 2 Woodpecker HI

In the second game, the Zebras were again straight off on the front foot, and pushed for the opening goal. Jordan Collins tried to take Woodpecker on single-handedly, but the visitors' defence stood firm. And completely against the run of play, the home team fell behind just before the break. Milton and Fulston shuffled their pack, and captain Callum Frampton pushed forward to support Collins. But again, Woodpecker snatched another goal. But a fantastic free-kick from Frampton found the top corner, and it was game on again. The Zebras pushed forward for an equaliser, but again, found the ball wouldn't quite fall for them. The final whistle left them wondering how they came away with nothing.

Milton & Fulston Utd Vs. Oak Athletic (18-03-12)

Game 1 - Milton & Fulston Utd 0 – 1 Oak Athletic

The second local derby between these two teams in a week produced two more closely fought games. Milton & Fulston United were on the front foot from the off, and created a chance straight from kick-off, and the game continued in a similar vein with the majority of the chances falling to the Zebras. Jack Ansett, Lewis Baker, Alex Hogbin and Cameron Rye all had chances to score, while at the other end Charlie Whent produced some fine saves to keep Oak at bay. As the second half progressed, it only seemed a matter of time before the home team scored, when out of the blue, the visitors snatched a goal that shook the Zebras, and try as they might, they couldn't find the goal to make their possession count.

Game 2 - Milton & Fulston Utd 2 – 2 Oak Athletic

Again, the second game followed a similar pattern, as the home side were out of the blocks quickly, and it wasn't long before they took the lead with a superb strike from Jordan Collins, who flicked the ball over the defender and volleyed home. But once again, the Zebras seemed to lack a sharpness in front of goal, and couldn't add to their lead. Into the second half, and pressure from Oak led to two quick goals in the space of a few minutes, which left the home side shocked at what had happened. However, they drew level when Reece Bishop's excellent cross shot from outside the area, deceived the defender and goalkeeper and found it's way into the net. The game was up for grabs, but despite more pressure, the visitors held firm to reverse the previous weekend's result.

Oak Athletic Vs. Milton & Fulston Utd (11-03-12)

Game 1 - Oak Athletic 1 – 1 Milton & Fulston Utd

A local derby produced two good games and some great goals. It was the home team who took an early lead in the first game, but the visitors were straight back at them and created several good chances before Jack Ansett scored the Zebras equaliser. Keeper David Baker had made an excellent save from an Oak corner, and quickly despatched the ball downfield, and some good work by Lewis Baker led to the goal. It was no more than they deserved, and more opportunities followed for Milton & Fulston, but Oak's defence stood strong and they defended well to preserve their point.

Game 2 - Oak Athletic 1 – 2 Milton & Fulston Utd

It seemed the second game would follow a similar pattern, as Oak again took an early lead with a super strike. But barely a minute later, Thomas Upton equalised after a fantastic passing move between himself, Luke Swift and Cameron Rye. The game ebbed and flowed from one end to the other, and despite a scrappy start to the second half, it was the visitors who seemed the most likely. And it was a brilliant backheel pass from Rye that set Jordan Collins through on goal to give Milton & Fulston the lead. More chances came for them to increase their advantage, and the home keeper made a great save from Reece Bishop late on, but the points went to the Zebras.

Milton & Fulston Utd Vs. Woodpecker HI (J.L.Cup Q/Final) (26-02-12)

Game 1 – Milton & Fulston Utd 0 – 2 Woodpecker HI

A great cup tie between two evenly matched teams. Game 1 went in favour of the visitors, who took their chances when they came to them. The Zebras Lewis Baker and Jack Ansett struggled to find space and time against a stubborn Woodpecker defence, and it was a loose ball that broke for the first goal, leaving keeper David Baker no chance. Captain Callum Frampton pushed forward from the back, but the visitors stood firm, and when the second goal went in, the home side didn't look like getting back in the tie.

Game 2 – Milton & Fulston Utd 2 – 0 Woodpecker HI

The second game was the opposite of the first, as the home side created more chances, and keeper Charlie Whent had little to do. And when Jordan Collins opened the scoring, the tie already seemed destined for extra-time. The Zebras pushed on, finding gaps in the Woodpecker defence, and it was Cameron Rye who increased the lead with a well taken finish. Reece Bishop and Thomas Upton also had good chances to score, but extra-time was soon upon the teams.

Extra time – Milton & Fulston Utd 0 – 0 Woodpecker HI

Extra-time was over quickly, with only a couple of chances for each side, but it was still end to end stuff. The dreaded penalty shoot-out loomed, so it came down to spot kicks. Sadly, Milton & Fulston had an off day, with only Alex Hogbin scoring. David Baker saved Woodpeckers first, but they scored their next 3 to go through 1-3. A great game, that could have gone either way, but Woodpecker HI progress to the semi-finals.

Woodpecker HI win on penalties 1-3

Milton & Fulston Utd Vs. Strood 87 (29-01-12) (John Leeds Trophy)

Game 1 - Milton & Fulston Utd 2 – 2 Strood 87

Two great cup games saw Strood 87 put in a great effort to come back from 2-0 down in the first to give the home side a scare. The Zebras Cameron Rye got the opener following Thomas Upton's well taken corner. Rye could have had a hat trick, twice more in the game through on goal, but the keeper did well on both occasions. But when Reece Bishop put Milton & Fulston 2-0 up, it seemed the match was going one way. But Strood 87 showed great spirit to fight back, and once it was level, the match was end to end. Either team could have snatched it, but it ended level to set up the all important second match.

Game 2 - Milton & Fulston Utd 3 – 0 Strood 87

After a slightly nervy start, the second game soon settled, and it was the home side who took advantage, as Lewis Baker opened the scoring with a cool finish. Zebras keeper David Baker had little to do, as his team mates worked to break Strood down, but it wasn't until midway through the second half that the pressure told, as Baker grabbed his second of the game, and his 21st of the season. And shortly after, William Dowling capped his best performance with his first goal of the campaign. The visitors keeper did well to keep the score down, but it was Milton & Fulston United who progressed to the quarter-finals.

Lordswood Youth Vs. Milton & Fulston Utd (22-01-12)

Game 1 - Lordswood Youth 2 – 0 Milton & Fulston Utd

A fascinating game lay ahead between two teams who know each other well, and always seem to bring the best out of one another. But it was Lordswood who took advantage of a lapse in concentration at the back to open the scoring. The Zebras Jack Ansett had a great game, and covered every blade of grass for his team, but it sometimes left the visitors short up front, and that lack of cutting edge was the problem, as the home side went 2-0 up in the second half, as the ball broke free to leave Lordswood only the keeper to beat, and they duly slotted home. A tough, well-matched game.

Game 2 - Lordswood Youth 2 – 0 Milton & Fulston Utd

The second game went almost the same way as the first. After a goal-less first half though, it looked like it could go either way, both teams with their chances, but Lordswood always looked the more likely. And midway through the second half, the home side broke the dead-lock. But for a while, it looked like the Zebras may get back into it, Reece Bishop and Cameron Rye both having good chances. But on a break, Lordswood got the telling second goal, and the visitors never looked like getting back into it. Although the score lines may not show it directly, Lordswood were made to work hard for their points today, as Milton & Fulston United put in a better performance than last week, but came away for nothing to show for their efforts.

Hempstead Valley Colts Vs. Milton & Fulston Utd (15-01-12)

Game 1 - Hempstead Valley Colts 0 – 1 Milton & Fulston Utd

Following last weeks cup defeat, Milton & Fulston seemed to lose their spark as they resumed their league campaign. Lewis Baker grabbed the winner with his 19th goal of the season, and a fine finish it was, lobbing the onrushing keeper after being put through on goal. But it was the only bright spark of the match, even though Zebras keeper David Baker had little to do. Both teams failed to make a major impression on the game, but the freezing temperature may have played its part. Jack Ansett had a good game, ensuring that the three points stayed with the visitors.

Game 2 - Hempstead Valley Colts 3 – 0 Milton & Fulston Utd

Things got worse for the away side in the second game, as they fell behind early on and never looked like getting back into the game. Jordan Collins tried hard to force his team back into contention, and his captain Callum Frampton went close with a couple of free kicks. But when the home side went two up, it was obvious the game was theirs. Matters got worse when Collins went off after kicking the ground during an effort on goal, and a hospital visit confirmed ligament damage to his 5th metatarsal. A third goal compounded the day, and Milton & Fulston will have to up their game for next weeks visit to the league leaders, Lordswood Youth.

Thamesview Youth Vs. Milton & Fulston Utd (League Cup) (08-01-12)

Game 1 - Thamesview Youth 4 – 2 Milton & Fulston Utd

A cracking cup tie, as 2nd division Milton & Fulston United took on Thamesview Youth from division 1. And it was a game that went all the way, and could have gone either way. In the first game, it was the home side who went ahead, but the Zebras Lewis Baker soon equalised with a fine finish. But after the Thamesview went ahead again, Baker grabbed his second, with an even better goal. The first division team took the lead a third time, but as the visitors pushed to equalise for a third time, they fell behind further. There were many chances for both sides, and visiting keeper David Baker made some great saves to keep his side in the tie.

Game 2 - Thamesview Youth 2 – 3 Milton & Fulston Utd

In the second game, it was the visitors on the front foot, and they went ahead through Jordan Collins, only for Thamesview to equalise soon after. Reece Bishop restored the Zebras lead with a great effort, and the match went end to end for much of the game. But late in the second half, the home side snatched their second equaliser, and looked to be going though to round two. But Milton & Fulston pushed hard, and with a minute to go, Alex Hogbin snatched the winner at the back post to take the game to extra time.

Extra-Time - Thamesview Youth 0 – 0 Milton & Fulston Utd

Extra time was over in a flash, as it finished goal-less. No stand out chances for either side, but it was still end to end stuff. The tension of a penalty shoot-out was looming. So then it came down to spot kicks. After 5 kicks each, it was 2-2. David Baker saved two Thamesview efforts in a great display. But as the keepers took the 6th kick, Thamesview scored after saving the visitors effort.

A great game, and no-one left feeling down after such a brilliant display.

Thamesview Youth win on penalties 3-2

Strood 87 Vs. Milton & Fulston Utd (18-12-11)

Game 1 - Strood 87 0 – 3 Milton & Fulston Utd

In their last game of 2011, Milton & Fulston finished the year off with another win, as their recent good form continued. Despite the cold, the boys worked hard, and were well worth their win. Zebras keeper Charlie Whent had little to do, and once Thomas Upton opened the scoring, the visitors never looked back, creating several chances. Jordan Collins also grabbed a brace, and Reece Bishop and Cameron Rye also had good efforts to increase the score. Defender Liam Parker broke several times from his defensive position, making some mazy runs and was also unlucky not to score. A solid away performance.

Game 2 - Strood 87 2 – 4 Milton & Fulston Utd

The second game became more difficult when the sleet and snow came, and the home side put in a sterling display. When Zebras captain Callum Frampton opened the scoring, it seemed the match might go the way of the first, but Strood equalised with a fine volley from a corner. Into the second half, it was end to end before Jack Ansett put the visitors ahead again. It led to a nervy finish, and with 5 minutes to go, the home side equalised again, and it looked like the points were to be shared. Strood 87 pushed on, sensing a winner, but that led to a break, and Lewis Baker grabbed what seemed to be the winning goal. However, with a few minutes left, Strood valiantly tried to equalise for a third time, but the same thing happened and Baker grabbed his second of the game with another breakaway goal right on the final whistle. A fantastic match to watch, and end the year with. It followed a similar pattern as the first, but Strood were more clinical with their finishing to inflict the Zebras heaviest defeat of the season. Again the home side took the lead, but when Reece Bishop equalised for the visitors, a closer match was expected. Danny Wells and Thomas Upton both had good chances for Milton & Fulston, but Strood took the lead again, and the away team failed to respond. Again, were it not for keeper David Baker, the home team could have had more, as he saved a penalty and made a brilliant point blank save too. This was a wake up call for Milton & Fulston who'll be looking to next weeks home match to bounce back.

Milton & Fulston Utd Vs. Strood 87 (11-12-11)

Game 1 - Milton & Fulston Utd 8 – 2 Strood 87

Two cracking games for the home side played in difficult conditions saw lots of goals. The first game saw the Zebras' Lewis Baker grab a hat trick, and strike partner Jack Ansett get a brace. The rain and muddy pitch played a part, and Strood proved they weren't going to lie down hitting back with a couple of goals of their own. But an own goal, along with one from captain Callum Frampton and a first league goal for defender Luke Swift made the result a comfortable one for Milton and Fulston.

Game 2 - Milton & Fulston Utd 7 - 2 Strood 87

The second match went pretty much the same way as the first, but most of the goals were scored in the first half. As the rain eased up, Reece Bishop scored four goals, and strike partner Jordan Collins got two. Again, Strood kept a foot in the game by grabbing a couple of goals. Cameron Rye got his first of the season for the Zebras, and was unlucky not to score a hat-trick, being denied by the post and a good save. The fixture list sees Milton & Fulston visit Strood next weekend for the return fixture, and they'll be looking to keep the pressure on Lordswood at the top of the table.

Milton & Fulston Utd Vs. Hempstead Valley Colts (04-12-11)

Game 1 - Milton & Fulston Utd 4 – 0 Hempstead Valley Colts

A comfortable win for the home side who moved up to second in the league with two wins against a spirited Hempstead team. Jack Ansett scored a hat trick and Lewis Baker also netted. Keeper David Baker didn't have much to do on a chilly day, as captain Callum Frampton led his team to victory. It could have been more too, as defender Luke Swift rattled the crossbar, and midfielder Danny Wells put in his customary good shift. Subs William Dowling and Josh Caulfield also played their part, spurring the second team on for their game.

Game 2 - Milton & Fulston Utd 2 – 1 Hempstead Valley Colts

Game two was a much tighter game, and it was the visitors who went ahead when a cross was parried by keeper Charlie Whent onto the post, and the ball ran into the centre of the box to be tapped home. The cold had affected the home team who took a while to warm up, but the Zebras Thomas Upton equalised with a smart finish before half time. And despite Jordan Collins getting the winner in the second half, it was his keeper, Whent, who made several great saves to keep his team in the game. Both teams pushed each other to the limit, but Milton & Fulston held on.

Milton & Fulston Utd Vs. Thamesview Youth Rangers (27-11-11)

Game 1 - Milton & Fulston Utd 0 – 0 Thamesview Youth Rangers

An extremely tight and tense game saw a rare scoreless game, but it was the home side that created the best chances, and were unlucky not to nick the points. Zebras defenders Luke Swift and Callum Frampton were brilliant and thwarted many of Thamesview's attacks long before they reached keeper David Baker. Unfortunately, attackers Jack Ansett and Lewis Baker seemed to have left their shooting boots at home, as the ball never seemed to fall kindly enough to land the killer blow. Their good run of form left the boys a little disappointed not to win, but a clean sheet at least was a reward for their efforts.

Game 2 - Milton & Fulston Utd 3 – 0 Thamesview Youth Rangers

The second match was followed much to the home side's game plan. Aware of the more powerful and physical Thamesview team, the Zebras made sure the visitors never made it count with quick movement and passing, and eventually broke through when Thomas Upton slotted home. Again, the defence held strong with Liam Parker, Alex Hogbin and sub Haiden Ormerod working really hard. And the hard worked paid off as Jordan Collins made it 8 goals in 3 games with a brace to put the result beyond doubt. Captain Reece Bishop and Upton had strong games in midfield, and the effort the team put in paid off.

Milton & Fulston Utd Vs. Wigmore Youth Wanderers (20-11-11)

Game 1 - Milton & Fulston Utd 3 - 0 Wigmore Youth Wanderers

Another solid display from the home side saw them follow last weeks double home win with another. And for the second week in a row, Jordan Collins scored a hat trick. Strike partner Reece Bishop was unfortunate not to score, as he had several chances to add to his goal tally. Naming an unchanged line-up from last week, the home side were always in control of the game, and keeper Charlie Whent had little to do. Defenders Alex Hogbin and Liam Parker were excellent at the back, restricting Wigmore's access to the goal. Thomas Upton was very dependable in midfield, as were subs Cameron Rye and Haiden Ormerod, who all contributed to this excellent performance.

Game 2 - Milton & Fulston Utd 2 – 1 Wigmore Youth Wanderers

The second match was much tighter, but a brilliant free kick from Zebras captain Callum Frampton, ensured the home side took all the points. Lewis Baker had opened he scoring in the first half, popping up to tap home at the far post after good work from Jack Ansett. But Wigmore equalised after a counter attack saw them break down the left, cross the ball and finish smartly. The second half was end to end stuff, and it seemed a draw could be on the cards, until a fine run from Baker saw him win a free kick just outside the area. That's when Frampton stepped up to fire the ball into the top right hand corner of the goal. Wigmore pushed on for an equaliser, but the home side were strong and held on.

Milton & Fulston Utd Vs. New Road (13-11-11)

Game 1 - Milton & Fulston Utd 6 – 0 New Road

A dominant performance from the home side saw them get their biggest win of the season so far. Front two Jordan Collins (3) and Reece Bishop (2) added to their goal tallies and defender Liam Parker's deflected cross made it six goals. But it could have been more, as Cameron Rye and Parker both could have added to the score. Zebras keeper Charlie Whent was a virtual spectator, as his defence stood strong in front of him. Defender Alex Hogbin, and sub Haiden Ormerod were great at the back, and midfielder Thomas Upton put in a great shift, earning him the man of the match award.

Game 2 - Milton & Fulston Utd 5 – 2 New Road

The second match took a while to get into gear, but when Zebras captain, Callum Frampton opened the scoring following a great run from his own half, it seemed that a similar pattern to the first match might follow. But New Road equalised soon after, when a lack of concentration at the back let them in. However, Lewis Baker put the home side back in front with a trademark poachers goal. The second half started just as nervy, and a handball saw the home side awarded a penalty, but Frampton saw his effort and rebound saved. Milton & Fulston then stepped their game up, and Baker, Jack Ansett and a second penalty for Callum Frampton, put the game beyond doubt. Danny Wells did an great job in midfield, though a late consolation goal made it 5-2. Subs Josh Caulfield, Joe Gooderson and Will Dowling also played their part in a good win.

Thamesview Youth Rangers Vs. Milton & Fulston Utd (06-11-11)

Game 1 - Thamesview Youth Rangers 1 – 0 Milton & Fulston Utd

A tight game that swung on a refereeing decision. A strong Thamesview team had the best of the play, but the Zebras defence was coping with whatever was thrown at them. Milton & Fulston's Liam Parker was outstanding at the back, but the game swung when his defensive partner Haiden Ormerod got hit in the face by the ball. The referee blew his whistle to allow him treatment, but the home side played on and put the ball in the net. The goal was given, despite the visitors stopping. The Zebras fought back, and Reece Bishop had a couple of good chances to level the game. Cameron Rye and Alex Hogbin also worked hard, but frustratingly, time ran out.

Game 2 - Thamesview Youth Rangers 0 – 3 Milton & Fulston Utd

In a reverse of the first game, Milton & Fulston were rarely troubled in match two, the only disappointment being they never scored more. Lewis Baker continued his great season by opening the scoring, but the biggest cheer was for Danny Wells, scoring his first goal for the club. Jack Ansett got the third, but there were several other opportunities to improve their goal difference. Callum Frampton's free kick went close, and Baker hit a post. A good performance all round.

Wigmore Youth Wanderers Vs. Milton & Fulston Utd (23-10-11)

Game 1 - Wigmore Youth Wanderers 2 – 1 Milton & Fulston Utd

A close fought match, but despite taking the lead when Thomas Upton chipped the goalkeeper for Milton & Fulston, the home team fought back to take the points.

Zebras defenders Liam Parker and Haiden Ormerod worked hard to protect stand-in keeper Jack Ansett. Lewis Baker chased many a lost cause, and Callum Frampton's free kicks and corners also caused Wigmore problems. But a physically stronger home side made their possession pay off and take the points. But the hard work of the visitors should not go without note.

Game 2 - Wigmore Youth Wanderers 4 – 4 Milton & Fulston Utd

A great comeback from the Zebras late on to level the match despite leading 2-1 early on. The visitors Alex Hogbin open the scoring, direct from a corner, but Wigmore soon levelled from the penalty spot after stand-in keeper Reece Bishop was adjudged to have brought down their forward in the box. Jordan Collins restored the lead, but the home side had a strong start to the second half and soon went 4-2 ahead. However, Milton & Fulston put on a great late show, as Collins completed his hat trick to make it 4-4, and despite pushing, a winner could not be found. Danny Wells also deserves a mention for a great performance in midfield.
